“We can move anywhere….  You choose”. 

 

In early 2020 we were living in Yucatan, Mexico, then the Covid Pandemic hit.  My wife said to me “it’s time to go back to Canada…   Everything we own is in storage, we can go anywhere”.

 

“Anywhere?!”  I’d never really considered where I would go if I could go “anywhere”.

 

It didn’t take me long to decide that moving “home” was the right move for my family and I.  

 

When my brother and I were kids, our Mom and Dad packed us up in the old yellow family van, left Vancouver and started into the interior of BC.  Mom and Dad were looking to escape the city life, find a great place to run the family business, and choose a better place to raise two rowdy young boys.  After exploring dozens of towns in BC., Mom and Dad decided that Cranbrook was the perfect place for us.  

 

Growing up in the Kootenays was simply fantastic.  My colorful childhood memories are filled with family fun.  Lazy summer days boating on Kookanusa lake, hikes through untouched wilderness to places few are lucky enough to see, the exciting rise of hungry trout while fly fishing on the St. Mary’s river, first tracks at Kimberley, Fernie and Panorama, learning to golf on world class courses.  Mountain biking with friends, exploring hundreds of kilometers of back roads and so much more.  We were explorers and every weekend was a new adventure for us.

 

So when I realized “it’s time to go home”, it was an easy decision.  The Kootenays was the place that offered us the best balance of opportunity and lifestyle. 20 years since I left, I’m back.  Like so many others who left to find something else, we are all realizing that this is a very special place.  What we were looking for was already in our own backyard.  The landscape and lifestyle has remained the same but the opportunities have grown. 

 

With a thriving real estate market we believe this was our opportunity to bring what we’ve perfected in the competitive Calgary real estate market over the last 15 years.
